I once had a photo instructor who told us, “Never show people your crap.” When I sit down and work on my photos each week, I ask myself, “Is this crap?” You’d be surprised at how often the answer is “yes.” Over half of my work doesn’t get seen by anyone but me.

Once I joined Facebook, I lightened my “crap” rule. I’ll post an on-camera-flash-eyes-closed photo if it has my friends in it and if I think it’s funny. My most liked pictures on Facebook are photos of my husband and me anyway. Come to think of it, I don’t think any of my Facebook friends even realize that I’m a photographer.

I do, however, draw the line with blatantly blurry images. In my opinion, there is a special place in hell for non-artistic, out-of-focus photographs. Please stop posting them. They make my eyes hurt.

So, what about this photo? This little lovely fell slightly between the “good” and “crap” filter. So I’m sharing it today. You can be the judge. I’m pretty sure my photo instructor would roll over in his grave. If he were dead, that is.

Not crap
Totally not. IMHO. I love shadows, and I like the colors.
