Stories of ghosts, spirits and the supernatural alternately fascinate and scare the crap out of me. I grew up in the shadow of a deceased sister that I never knew, and my family has always held a certain amount of superstition about her spirit. Throw in a creaky house and high school religion classes in which we frequently discussed Satan, and BAM - you have one freaked-out high school kid who never liked to stay home alone.
These days, I’m somewhat less jumpy, and I will gladly watch shows about ghost hunters on TV if given the chance. These shows always leave me mildly disappointed with their lack of evidence. I have so many questions - for instance, why is a ghostly message always so difficult to decipher? Why are images of spirits so hard to capture? Like the ultrasound of a baby, it’s hard to make out the face and body of a spirit without the assistance of a trained professional.
After I’m gone, I have no intention of being one of those wimpy, hazy, vague ghosts. If I’ve got a message, you’ll know it. Perhaps one of my inheritors will be mistreating my camera. I will leave messages across every image taken: “Would it kill you to clean the lens once in awhile?” And he’ll be so freaked out he’ll never touch my stuff again. Mua ha ha ha ha. That’ll learn ‘em.
