Yesterday, while patiently waiting at a crosswalk, a complete stranger used me as an example to teach her child a lesson in safety.
“....See? Now the lady is crossing the street because the light turned green and when the light is green, it’s OK to cross.”
While I'm all for teaching our children the proper way to execute a safe passage to the sidewalk beyond, I think that it's only fair that I receive some sort of financial compensation for my part in this impromptu safety lesson. Maybe even residuals. Because, let’s face it, my exemplar street-crossing performance is going to last that kid a lifetime.
