Kauai has a variety of lizards (this guy is called an anole), geckos and other fascinating natural alternatives to TV. Last month we sat in our friend’s backyard and watched this little green fellow scurry and leap from walls to rake handles, threatening any other anoles he saw on the way.
After observing this cold-blooded critter for awhile, I said to my husband, “When you were a kid, would you try to catch that lizard?” Bruce grinned impishly and replied, “I was just thinking of a way I could catch him now. I would build a little noose.”
I love that the little lizard-catching boy still lives inside my husband. His methods are just more refined now.
Don’t worry, Bruce didn’t build that noose. To the best of my knowledge, this wee anole remains a free-range lizard.
