This little dog is a friend of mine who I only get to visit when I am in Kauai. I will be sitting on a particular beach, minding my own business, when he runs up to say hello! It’s so great to see you!! And how have you been?! He will sit next to me, or under my legs, or on my boogie board, and we’ll watch the ocean together. Sometimes we’ll chat. Our last conversation went something like this:
Me: You know you’re pretty much the definition of a mongrel, right?
Him: Pant, pant, pant.
He’s really quite agreeable.
Of course, he’s very popular, so when someone gets out of the water or walks back toward the village, he feels it is his duty to mingle and he’ll leave me to go chat them up. It’s not easy being the dog host of the beach.
